Wireframes with MR and Paint Effects

wireframe_test_small This image was generated by first rendering with MR and outputting contours as PostScript file. The PS file was then imported back to Maya and some turbulance was added to vertices to make the lines less perfect. The lines were rendered with Paint Effects to get “pen-like” look. The original 3D model was Pro/ENGINEER file that was imported with Okino PolyTrans.

you don’t actually need okino for exporting stuff out of pro|e if you do this inside pro|e itself you get better tessellation results. just export it as obj and set the chord heights in proe and youll get feedback.

off course maya likes the nurbs of step.

Yes, OBJ export works for small assemblies, but for larger ones I definitely recommend PolyTrans. Also, the wireframe effect requires naked edges, either using nurbs surfaces or each surface tesselated separately to polygons.
